Why am I bored by the inane? It's not as though there's anything wrong with inanity, I've tried it myself and have been quite adept at conjuring up the spirits of "I banged my leg on the coffee table today and I hate my boss" animus that is the secret of Facetwat.

Actually I have no problem with people who measure out their lives in "I banged my leg on the coffee table today and I hate my boss"-spoons. They are aware of the banality of their (our?) existence, and simply want to ensure there is a fleeting record of it, rather like someone gurning behind a reporter doing an outside broadcast. The problem comes with "I banged my leg on the coffee table today and I hate my boss LOL!", which suggests that their intention is not simply to make themselves footnotes on the internet, but also to entertain us. That’s the point at which I wish Facebook had a "DIE" button.
I'd die for a life that exciting. If I even owned a coffee table, I'd be happy.
I'd be happy if I had a cup of coffee to set ON a coffee table.
